Mission Statement
Our mission is to build high quality portable
buildings by:
  • Employing skilled craftsmen
  • Utilizing quality materials
  • Developing innovative products
  • Promoting product excellence.
We assure our customers a fullfilling buying experience.

Welcome to Derksen Portable Buildings, located in a rural area of Western Kentucky known as the Jackson Purchase. We are centrally located between St. Louis, Missouri and Nashville, Tennessee.

Our company was founded in 1995 by John Derksen, a Mennonite craftsman who began the business of building portable barns and distributing them to a couple of dealers. Soon after, John formed a partnership with a close friend and businessman, Scott Berryman.

Today Derksen Buildings is owned and operated by Scott and Carole Berryman whose leadership has built a community of hard-working and devoted employees that are seen as an extended family. The members of the family include builders, painters, roofers, drivers, installers, salespeople, office staff, and dealers--all working together to fulfill the company's mission. But most importantly it includes our customers for whom we strive to please.

The buildings in our product line include Barns, Lofted Barns, Lofted-Barn Cabins, Cottage Sheds, Garden Sheds, Utility Sheds, Garages, Cabins, and a great variety of custom combinations of these basic designs. While all of our buildings are available in treated wood, many of them are also available in painted, metal, and vinyl styles. A generous selection of roof and paint colors are available. If you want to send us a standard paint code, we will make every effort to match it to your color. We provide many options including windows, doors, ridge vents, and sizing. If you prefer something that you don't see on our list of options, always feel free to call and ask us about it.

A series of inspections are performed on each building by our Quality Control Department. At each stage of construction, a building receives a date time stamp on its assigned inspection record:

  • When it is built
  • When and if is painted
  • When it is roofed

Only when the buidling's inspection record is complete (met all building benchmarks for workmanship) will the building be approved for delivery.
